Saving Power

You can extend battery life and save power also during AC adaptor usage.

Reducing Power Consumption

Use the methods below to reduce power consumption.
  • Change the Power Options to [Panasonic Power Management(Power Saving)]. (refer toUsing Power Plan Extension Utility)
    When you switch the power plan, brightness of the screen, rotation of the cooling fan, etc. are automatically set to the recommended values. Furthermore, you can set the contents of each power saving function separately which were set by switching the power plan.
  • Press «Fn» + «F1» to reduce LCD brightness
    Reducing internal LCD brightness will reduce power consumption.
Furthermore power saving options:
  • Turn off the computer when it is not in use
    You can also turn off only the wireless LAN or wireless WAN function.
  • Disconnect external devices (USB devices, external mouse, etc.) that are not being used
  • Use Sleep/Hibernation
  • Disable Wake Up from wired LAN function when it is not needed.
    This reduces power consumption in Sleep/Hibernation.
    To confirm current settings:

    Display [All apps], and then click [Power Plan Extension Utility] under “Panasonic” to view [Wired LAN’s port while sleeping].
    1. Right-click any empty location on the Start screen.
    2. Click [All apps] on the toolbar.

    Click Start (Start) - [All Programs] - [Panasonic] - [Power Plan Extension Utility] to view [Wired LAN's power while sleeping].
  • When using the battery, do not use applications that place a significant load on the CPU.
    Some application software may place a large burden on the CPU only with start-up and may consume power.
  • When you are using the screen saver with 3D graphics, change to another screen saver
    To change the screen saver, right-click the desktop, click [Personalize] - [Screen Saver] and click the title of the screen saver.

Using Power Plan Extension Utility

You can adjust the power plan to change power saving features as required.

Switching the power plan

  1. Click on the notification area and click .
  2. Click the power plan you wish to set from the displayed menu.
    Click [Extension settings - Show current] to display the current setting of Power Plan Extension Utility.
  3. Confirm the changed contents of the power plan and click [OK].
  4. If the screen to set to restore the power plan is displayed, select whether restoring the power plan to the previous state (before switching) after a certain period of time or not, and then click [OK].

Customizing the Power Setting

You can choose the optimum power setting for your operating condition by selecting a power plan. You can also create your own power plan.

Changing the Power Plan Setting

  1. Click or / or on the notification area and click [More power options].

    The notification area is available on the desktop screen.
  2. Click [Change plan settings] of the power plan you want to change.
  3. Change the settings.
    • [Change advanced power settings]: You can make more detailed settings.
  4. Click [Save changes].

Creating Your Own Power Setting

  1. Click or / or on the notification area and click [More power options].

    The notification area is available on the desktop screen.
  2. Click [Create a power plan], click the basic plan and input the name of power plan.
  3. Click [Next].
  4. Change the settings and click [Create].

Deleting the Power Plan

  1. Click or / or on the notification area and click [More power options].

    The notification area is available on the desktop screen.
  2. Click the power plan other than the power plan to be deleted.
  3. Click [Change plan settings] displayed under the power plan that you want to delete.
  4. Click [Delete this plan], and then click [OK] on the confirmation screen.
