Network Connections and Communications Software

Close the communications software before using the power saving function.
  • If the power saving function (sleep or hibernation) is activated while communications software is used, the network connection may be interrupted, or the performance may be adversely affected. In this case, restart the computer.
  • In a network environment, set [Never] for [Put the computer to sleep] and [Hibernate after] (refer toSetting Sleep or Hibernation).

About Windows-related files

The Windows files included in the Windows are contained in the following folders:
c:\windows\support\migwiz, c:\windows\support\tools, c:\windows\support\logging

Serial Devices

The COM ports of the computer are assigned as below.
  • COM1 : Serial Port*1
*1 : Optional
If you change the assignment, the serial devices may not work properly.

About Fast startup

The fast startup is enable as the factory default.
If the computer shut down by the following steps, the fast startup will be disabled at next bootup.
  1. Click [Charm] - - [Change PC settings] - [General].
  2. Click [Restart now] under “Advanced startup”.
  3. Click [Turn off your PC].
To perform following steps, the fast startup function is always disabled.
  1. Open the Control Panel, and then click [System and Security] - [Power Options] - [Choose what the power button does].
    To open the Control Panel, proceed as follows on the Start screen.
    1. Right-click any empty location on the Start screen.
    2. Click [All apps] on the toolbar.
    3. Click [Control Panel] under “Windows System”.
  2. Remove checkmark [Turn on fast startup (recommended)] in [System Settings].
