Windows 10 OS version change announcement

The (Windows 10) OS version of the recovery media created with the download service currently distributed changed from "Creators Update" to "Fall Creators Update" from January 23, 2018. (Excluding some models)
About the term of OS version change, please confirm "target model" below.

As for detailed, we will update the Support Web page sequentially.

Introduction

This page shows Panasonic support information for installing Windows 10 on TOUGHBOOK and TOUGHPAD series ("Windows 7 Professional" preinstalled model).
The version of Windows 10 is the same as "Windows 10 Fall Creators Update".

For the target models that can install Windows 10, please confirm with the following [Model selection].

About the OS for which installing Windows 10 is possible:

  • Windows 7 Professional (Preinstalled model)

Before you download Windows 10, please consider your PC operating environment and make an informed judgement.

About change of standard installed application software accompanying transition to New version of Windows 10.

 Please check this page. 

Before installing Windows 10, please make sure to confirm the following precautions and evaluation conditions. The tool may not operate properly if you downgrade without following the stipulated items set forth.

The downgrade procedure may take time depending on the network environment.
So we strongly recommend that you use a flat-rate broadband-line and you perform when you have enough time.

Please prepare and check the reinstalling environment of your PC such as a recovery DVD or USB memory and backup media before installing Windows 10.

If you have not created a Windows 7 recovery disk, please make sure to create one before performing the installation. You may not be able to create a recovery disk after the installation is complete.
Please refer to the "instruction manual guide" that is attached to the product for procedures on how to create a recovery disk.

Steps for Install Windows 10

Workflow

The following table shows the workflow of this service. Here "Tool" means "Recovery Disc Creation Utility (Recovery Image Downloading Edition)" which is a support tool that is used for download and install when installing Windows 10.
This tool needs ".Net Framework 4.5 (or later)".
Check cautions described in each section before operation.

Prepare Unused Media

  • This tool supports DVD-R /+R/DVD-R DL (dual layer) /+R DL (dual layer). Blu-ray isn't supported.
  • This tool also supports USB memory.
    <Restriction of the tool>
      If the size of the recovery data is more than 26 GB, this tool doesn't support USB memory.
      In that case, you can use only DVD for creating the recovery media.
  • Estimated number or capacity of the media is as follows.

BitLocker

A password input window, which appears when you insert a USB memory encrypted by BitLockerToGo, closes by touch operation to show software keyboard. Therefore you can't input a password.

  1. Show a software keyboard first, then insert a USB memory.
  2. You can show a password input window again by the following each operations.

    2-1. Control Panel → System and Security →
    Bit Locker Drive Encryption, please tap "Unlock drive".

    2-2. Open explorer and tap [USB drive].

Touch Keyboard

Touch keyboard can't be shown after execute the following steps.

[1] From [Settings]

  1. Click (Start) at the bottom left corner, and then click(Settings) - [Update & security] - [Recovery].
  2. Click [Get Started] under Reset this PC.
  3. Click [Keep my files].
  4. Execute Reset by following the on-screen instructions.

[2] From [Windows Recovery Environment]

  1. Click (Start) at the bottom left corner, and then click(Settings) - [Update & security] - [Recovery].
  2. Click [Restart Now] under Advanced startup.
  3. Click [Troubleshoot] After PC Restart.
  4. Click [Reset this PC].
  5. Click [Keep my files].
  6. Execute Reset by following the on-screen instructions.

[How to respond]

Make [Show touch keyboard button] enable in the menu shown by Right-Clicking taskbar.

Recovery

[Matter]

"System Restore did not complete successfully." error may occur.

[Procedure]

  1. Uninstall the UWP application.
  2. [Control Panel](View by : Small icons) - [Recovery] - [Configure System Restore] - [System Restore ...]
  3. Select restore point that was created before 1.
  4. Execute the system restore.

[How to respond]

  1. Wait a while (about an hour), retry the system restore.
  2. If an error still occurs, try the following procedure,

    2-1. [Settings] - [Update & Security] - [Recovery], [Restart now] in "Advanced startup".

    2-2. Open explorer and tap [USB drive].

[Matter]

"This app can't open. Check the Windows Store for more info about xxxxx (application name)."

[Procedure]

  1. [Control Panel](View by : Small icons) - [Recovery] - [Configure System Restore] - [System Restore ...]
  2. Execute the system restore.
  3. Launch the UWP application.

[How to respond]

Once sign-in after sing-out, you can launch the UWP application.

[Matter]

"System Restore did not complete successfully." error may occur.

[Procedure]

  1. [Control Panel](View by : Small icons) - [Recovery] - [Configure System Restore] - [System Restore ...]
  2. Execute the system restore.

[How to respond]

  1. Wait a while (about an hour), retry the system restore.
  2. If an error still occurs, try the following procedure,

    2-1. [Settings] - [Update & Security] - [Recovery], [Restart now] in "Advanced startup".

    2-2. On "Choose an option", [Troubleshoot] - [Advanced options] - [System Restore]

You can't recovery with USB flash memory recognized as Local Disc when you create a recovery drive by the following steps.

  1. [Control Panel] - [System and Security] - [Security and Maintenance] - [Recovery].
  2. [Advance recovery tools] - [Create a recovery drive] - [Next]
  3. [Select the USB flash drive] - Select one drive - [Next]
  4. [Create the recovery drive] - [Create]

Please recovery with the following each way.

  1. Use USB flash memory recognized as Removable (i.e. not shown "Local Disk" in File Explorer).
  2. Execute the system restore.

Start Menu

Tiles may not exist in Start Menu.

These tiles are for applications in left side of Start Menu, or applications recommended by Microsoft.
Even if this phenomenon occurs, you can use applications without any problems.
You can download applications recommended by Microsoft through Microsoft Store.
If you need, pin to Start Menu.

When bluetooth is turned off while connecting with Bluetooth PAN(Personal Area Network), BSOD may occur.

Do not turn off Bluetooth during connecting Bluetooth PAN.
BSOD will not occur while Bluetooth is ON.

Fingerprint

Desktop screen can't be shown automatically when you enable Single Sign-On of Fingerprint Authentication(EVE FA Standalone) and start PC with Fingerprint Authentication.

Key input or mouse click is needed to pass the lock screen and the sign-in screen.

Wireless LAN may not work, after execute the following steps.

[1] From [Settings]

  4. Execute Reset by following the on-screen instructions.

Display on external monitor

If you connect an external monitor to HDMI / DisplayPort / VGA(*1) port on peripheral devices(cradle, keyboard base, etc.) and set display mode to "Second screen only", applications using OpenGL may not be displayed properly.

Switch display mode to "Duplicate" or "Extend".

RADEON PRO AND AMD FIREPRO SETTINGS

The warning notification of graphics settings may displayed, when you close an application like Panasonic PC Settings Utility.

This is a function of AMD graphics.
If performance settings of AMD graphics are not set for the application, the warning notification sometimes displays.
And if you want to inhibit the notification, please execute one of following procedures.

Procedure 1:
Prevent the display of the notification for an application.

  1. Left click the start button → Left click "AMD Settings" folder → Left click "AMD Settings" to start RADEON PRO AND AMD FIREPRO SETTINGS.
  2. Left click [... Advanced] to launch Radeon Pro and AMD FirePro Advanced Settings.
  3. Left click [Switchable Graphics Application Settings].
  4. If the application is listed on "Recent Application", please select Graphics Settings except for "Not Assigned".
    In the case of not listed on "Recent Application", left click [Add application] and select the application, and set Graphics Settings properly.

Procedure 2:
Prevent the display of the notification for all applications.

  1. Left click the start button → Left click "AMD Settings" folder → Left click "AMD Settings" to start RADEON PRO AND AMD FIREPRO SETTINGS.
  2. Left click "Preferences".
  3. Remove the check from check box of Notifications.
  4. Left click "Done".
12 CF-MX4E Application

"Touch Pad Accidental Operation Prevention Utility" cannot be used right after Sign In.

"Touch Pad Accidental Operation Prevention Utility" provided as part of the Panasonic PC Settings Utility function cannot be used for a while (about 3 minutes) after Sign In.

Application

"Camera Device" may not be shown in the Panasonic PC Settings utility.

Fixed version is available in Microsoft Store.

(with Wireless LAN)
Wireless LAN

In the Panasonic PC setting utility, you can set wireless LAN (IEEE802.11a) enabled.
Then, after rebooting Windows, if you check the previous setting, it may be disabled.

The display shows disabled, but the setting is enabled.
It takes time for the display to be updated.

15 CF-53[2/3/4/5/7] Wireless Switch

Airplane mode can be changed to Off on Windows 10 although wireless switch is OFF.

[Modification procedure]

Wireless communication may be ON with the following steps although wireless switch is OFF.

  1. Slide the wireless switch to OFF.
  2. Then Airplane mode is turn to On.
  3. Turn Airplane mode Off on Windows 10.
  4. Then wireless communication may be enabled although the wireless switch is OFF.

*After step 4, to turn wireless communication off, slide the wireless switch to ON once and re-slide it to OFF.

(with Wireless WAN)
Wireless WAN

Unable to connect to the internet by using the profile whose APN type is LTE.

Set "PN type" to "Internet" on profile creation screen to connect to the internet.

17 CF-53[2/3/4/5/7] Projecting to this PC

When you execute "Projection to this PC" ([Settings] - [System] - [Projecting to this PC]), the following message may display.
"This device might have trouble displaying your content because its hardware wasn't specifically designed for wireless projection."

The target models do not support "Projection to this PC".

18 CF-53[2/3/4/5/7] Start Menu

Rarely after the Windows setup, the tile of the start menu may be displayed as "P ~ Microsoft ..." and it may not react even if you click it.
These tiles are applications displayed on the left side of the start menu or it is recommended application by Microsoft.
If Windows cannot register the tile properly it will be displayed as above.

Even in this state, the operation of the application is not affected.
Applications recommended by Microsoft can be downloaded from "Store".
Please remove the pinning of the tile above and pin your favorite application to the start menu as necessary.
